Nonfiction Fun Times is an independent publication launched in September 2026 by me, Janet Daniels.

This is a space where I will post monthly about writing, research, travel, and other shenanigans related to writing nonfiction for young readers.

If you are reading excellent nonfiction or have an amazing nugget about history, especially if it is about the Eighteenth Century, the current time period I am researching and writing about, I would love to hear it.

Hi! I'm a writer, reader, researcher, yoga enthusiast, traveler, sister, aunt, partner, higher education administrator, and lover of fairy tales and French food, especially pastries.

I've been researching and writing a nonfiction YA biography of Marie Leprince de Beaumont for a decade. Her story is amazing. Her story has been lost. I am the one to share it. I hope you will join me on the journey as I search for a literary agent and work towards publication.

Fairy Tales in the Wild

When I was an adjunct professor working in and around Boston teaching courses on English, creative writing, children's literature, and fairy tales, I asked my students to send me photos of fairy tale references out in the world.

It became a great scavenger hunt for them, and I'd like to invite you to do the same. So if you see a fairy tale referenced while out living your life, take a photo and drop it to me.

Once you start looking... you will see them everywhere! I look forward to seeing what you find.
